When we first found out that this bride’s mother made her incredible lace gown while battling cancer, we knew Lacy and Billy’s wedding at Aurora Acres was something special. Then we learned that the groom – country music artist Billy Dawson – wrote the processional and first dance songs specifically for his bride, and our hearts almost couldn’t handle the sweetness. Lacy and Billy’s special day was full of the rustic charm we love about southern weddings, including natural wood décor, stunning white floral arrangements, twinkle lights galore, and a scrumptious taco bar – all of which was DIYed, by the way! It all came together beautifully through the lens of photographer Stephanie Sorenson, who played with unique angles and lighting to capture every enchanting detail and intimate moment. The Couple:

This was pretty much an all DIY wedding, but my favorite DIY element was my wedding dress. My mother made my dress  – and did so all while battling cancer and going through treatments. She is an amazing seamstress and made dresses for my sisters and I growing up, so it was only fitting for her to design my wedding dress. It will be something I treasure forever!
