When it comes time to do your engagement shoot, we thought it might be fun you to hear how this shoot was done. We think it is a great way to capture the true nature of your relationship at this wonderful time in your lives.

This was my favourite session from my time a recent photography workshop on Whidby Island, Washington with Ginny Au and her amazing creative team. The shoot was named “Adventure”, and every detail of it felt that way – from the styling, to the couple, to the wild chase we went on to capture it. Â The shooting process was pre-scripted by the stylists, based on the couple, and then we (the photographers) follow along to document as the story unfolds with no interruptions. It’s a really beautiful way to capture authenticity, a style of shooting that I’ve pulled into my own work in many ways over the years. The reason I loved this shoot so much was because there was a tenderness to the couple, a connection that felt so intimate while also enabling them to be an amazing team. They laughed and teased each other, always moving in closer to their mate while effortlessly moving in the same direction.
