The bride-to-be shared with us: ?Maalik and I initially met through mutual friends at a performance event. We were 18 at the time. Later that night, at a friend?s house, we continued to talk a little more. I recall him being one of the few people that I talked too all night. Although he was funny and cute, we didn’t connect right away so I friend-zoned him. However, he liked me a lot, so he was very persistent. He consistently checked on me and asked how I was doing. We even went on a few more dates (he wouldn’t give up) and as time went on we got closer. We talked everyday and went on dates every week. I remember we went to the movies and that night he asked me to be his girlfriend. We became a couple on April 23, 2010.?
