Black Cat Hallowedding: Driftwood Beach Portraits

I took a little break from my recaps for the holidays. Sorry for the long absence, but there?s still more from the Black Cats to share. I’m so excited to get back into the swing of things with this post in particular.
It wouldn?t be a Jekyll Island wedding if we stayed put at that villa. After all, we hadn?t spent all that time driving through the South just to have a garden backdrop. Apart from the sentimental memories of my early childhood, Jekyll is also home to one of the strangest, most stunning beach views in America. And it took some serious time negotiation to make the following photos happen.
We snuck off, as many couples do, during the cocktail hour.
The beach itself is accessible off the side of the thin winding road that goes around the perimeter of the island. You park off the side of the road and walk through a bicycle path filled with gnats incubating in warm mud puddles. Still, it?s gorgeous, and as you walk the green marshland turns into gray and blue shoreline. You look up from the end of the bike path and there it is?this incredible beach. The sight of these huge, uprooted trees is truly haunting.
Maybe there?s cause to justify why we took even *more* photos instead of being with our guests or eating our passed hors d?oeuvres. But I feel like these images speak for themselves.
