Camp-Inspired Kentucky Wedding at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

Whitney and Carlos’ dreamy camp-inspired wedding at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill had it all: southwest charm, bohemian romance, and fab fashion. The couple drew inspiration from the natural landscape and incorporated Mexican-inspired details to give their guests an authentic Kentucky experience. We’re totally obsessed with all of their personal touches: from the DIY ceremony arch to the tattoo artist at the reception. The bride even designed her own wedding dress – and it is incredible! Bruno Rezza did a spectacular job capturing all the beautiful details and fun surprises this wedding had to offer.

The inspiration for my wedding dress was natural beauty. I wanted to look like myself. Crazy makeup or hair updo’s were not an option. I loved how my dress was 2 layers that could be worn separately. We didn’t have a wedding party but our guests went all out! There were bolo ties, boots, ruffles, belt buckles and cowboy hats everywhere.
I knew that I wanted the entire weekend to feel like a camp. I didn’t want people driving all over and everyone feeling separated. The venue had everything we needed in one place – lodging, a restaurant, nature, horse back riding, canoeing, the reception barn venue, and the ceremony location overlooking the rolling hills. It was a one stop shop!
