DIY Bridal Makeup: Tips and Products

DIY Bridal Makeup
These posts are bittersweet as they mark the beginning of the end for Mrs. Horseshoe. I have a few more planning posts to share before I dive into my recaps. On tap today is a favourite subject of mine?bridal makeup!
My wedding makeup trial wasn?t the greatest. I didn?t feel like I had a good rhythm with the salon I went to. I decided to DIY my bridal makeup, and I?m pretty pleased with how things turned out.
Makeup is done! Yeah, I don?t know what I?m doing in this photo. Let?s chalk it up to pre-wedding nerves. / Source: personal
First, a couple of thoughts on DIY bridal makeup.
YouTube makeup tutorials and practice are your best DIY wedding makeup friends. My favourite guru is Lisa Elridge—she has some great bridal makeup tutorials. I also liked this tutorial by Stephanie Lange, and loved Sazan Hendrix?s bridal look. Going through these tutorials and practicing my look a few times allowed me to fine tune my skills and my bridal look. I also highly recommend booking a makeup lesson with a store like Sephora or MAC if you can. They?re usually free if you spend a certain amount at the store after your appointment. I went to Sephora and really lucked out as the woman I had my lesson with did makeup for pro shoots on the side. She gave me some good advice and shared some really good makeup application techniques.
Take flash, non-flash, and indoor/outdoor photos of your practice runs and send them to your makeup-savvy friends for their critique....
