Becoming a Bride
Since the day I picked my dress, I was incredibly eager to wear it. I kept saying there were three things I was looking forward to the most: marrying Mr. Dove, wearing my wedding dress, and our dessert bar! The dress was everything I wanted and more—it was fun to wear, it was beautiful, and it had personality. I loved everything about it every time I put it on for fittings and stuff, and I knew getting in it on our wedding day would just be perfect. There is magic in becoming a bride—that connection to tradition of all the women before me, knowing I was about to marry Mr. Dove, and having the support and love from my group around me all day made me feel like I was floating on air.
I was glad my dress was quick to put on, because I had become slightly impatient about wearing my dress. I would have happily put it on at 9:00 AM when I got up and worn it all day! But it was a quick corset and zip and it was on. My mom was there when I picked it out, and she zipped me into it, although the inner corset was done up by my bridesmaid who had the most experience with the itty bitty hooks and laces. I remember trying to remind myself to breathe. I felt nervous about things breaking or not doing up, even though it had all worked fine the week before at my last fitting.
