Building a Foundation for Marriage

We were at a wedding not too long ago, and when hearing the traditional vows, I started thinking about them in the light of our upcoming wedding—and it made me even more certain (or as certain as one can be) that we’re creating a solid foundation to a marriage.
“For better or for worse”
The last 36 months have been a roller coaster ride—and not in a nice way. Between job stress and job loss, illness, loss of loved ones, and welcoming new (furry) members of our family, it hasn’t been easy. It hasn’t been smooth.
But I’m proud of the way we cherish the good. We make sure to take advantage of great Los Angeles events, from food festivals and sporting events to concerts and sunsets viewed from our roof. And we celebrate the little things—traffic-free commutes, Friday nights, better puppy behavior.

As sweet as the “better” times are, I’m even prouder of the way we come together during the “worse,” and make each other laugh, every day, even when we’re both exhausted, overwhelmed, or struggling to feel good.
