After the ceremony was over, Mr. Feather piled into Best Man A’s car and I got a ride with Bridesmaid B over to the mansion. Our guests were treated to a cocktail hour with passed appetizers while we headed upstairs to the bridal suite to take a few more photos and have some time alone.
After getting a few photos of us together and separately, our photographer disappeared to go get some photos of the guests downstairs, leaving us alone to chat and take a quick breather before dinner.
I debated whether we should go to cocktail hour or not. Having a first look and doing family photos before the ceremony meant that we could have gone if we wanted to. But after a nonstop busy day, we were both feeling a little socially drained. Recharging our batteries before starting the reception was the right choice for us.

The awesome catering staff brought us up glasses of wine, so we had a little toast. I was starting to feel pretty dehydrated, so I mostly sipped on water the whole night. Tip for future brides—hydrate in the morning, so you can hit the evening ready to go and without a headache.
After that, a few of our friends who were exploring the mansion found us and we got a few moments to catch up with them. Everyone we spoke with agreed that the mansion was such an awesome space—I’ll share more photos of it in my next few posts!
