Happily Feather After: First Dance

Classic First Dance
Mr. Feather and I must have listened to at least 100 songs in our quest for a first dance song that fit all of our super picky criteria: easy to dance to (we’d taken lessons and could execute a pretty solid box step by this point), meaningful but not cheesy, and something classic that fit with our venue.
We’re not huge music listeners and we didn’t have a song that was “ours,” so the possibilities were truly endless. A little too endless, because we didn’t decide on a song until the week before the wedding.
Before our first dance could get started, we had to deal with a minor technical snafu. We’d been told the mansion had WiFi and could stream our first dance song and reception music. N said there was a problem and the song wasn’t loading all the way. Rather than hold up dinner for everyone, we both shrugged our shoulders and said to play as much as she had loaded (about two minutes) and then fade it at a point that felt right. Honestly, I didn’t feel like box stepping our way through the whole song anyway, so it was secretly a bit of a relief.
We came down the stairs and got ready to make our dance-floor debut. We skipped our last dance lesson because we were too busy with wedding prep, so I think we were both a little nervous about pulling off more than just a hold and sway.
N announced us and Mr. Feather led me out to the center of the dance floor.
Unforgettable, that’s what you are
