Mr. Eel and I are *so so so* blessed that we get to call Hawaii home. We were both born and raised on the islands—Mr. Eel has never lived anywhere else, and I only briefly lived in the Pacific Northwest while attending college. Living on the islands, we sometimes take the warm weather, cool beaches, and delicious food for granted. What better way to reflect on how lucky we are to live here than a Honeymoon in My Hometown post"
What do you get when you cross a Horseshoe and an Eel" We were lucky enough to meet the Horseshoes when they honeymooned in our hometown!
For starters, let’s get some of the common misconceptions out of the way. Yes, we are one of the 50 states, we speak English, and we have cell service . No, we do not live in grass shacks, we are not located next to Texas even though it may appear that way on maps, and you do not need a passport to come here.
Accommodations. The most common area to stay on Oahu would be Waikiki. There are a number of hotel options in this area with beaches just a quick stroll away. While I haven’t stayed at all the Waikiki hotels, I have stayed at quite a few and can safely recommend The Westin Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Waikiki. Both of these hotels are great beachfront property options if you’re looking to stay in the middle of Waikiki within walking distance of shopping and tons of dining choices.
