How the Sixes Became Mr. and Mrs.: Cocktailing and Caking

The ceremony was done—we were married! As our guests filed out and ran toward the beer, Benjamin and I swung around and headed back up to the altar for our formal family photos. We were short on time at this point as there was a mass in half an hour, so we powered through the various permutations of family and party.

Three of my former students (now in college) with whom I was particularly close made it to the ceremony, so I insisted that they each come up for a quick picture to put on the ?Gram.
“Sawyer”* made me crop out her jeans.
And then it was time to head over to cocktail hour! Ben and I were insistent that we attend this portion of our reception—pre-dinner drinks are my favorite part of any evening, obvs. We had taken plenty of photos earlier, and it was now dark out anyway, so we piled into my Corolla** and my dad drove us around the block to Salvatore?s. I decided to keep the fur shrug on indefinitely, because why the hell not" Ben and I attempted to enter the room quietly, but our wonderful guests started cheering when they saw us. LOL.

We had drinks, tried all the passed apps (OMG delicious), and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was so nice to feel relaxed after being keyed up all day.
