Invites: How to Eat Your Words
So a few posts ago, I stated that I couldn’t care less about paper, and yet here I am making another post about paper. Our invites went out this week, and after spending way more effort on them than I wanted to, I am super happy with them.
I still stand by disliking spending money and time on something that will get thrown out by the majority of people. But after putting our invites together, I ended up liking them a lot more than I thought I would. It wasn’t a labour of love by any means, and every dollar I spent I kept thinking about how it was all going to get thrown away, but I worked hard for a few days and got something nice.
I already showed the basic invite we went with. I had it printed on heavy paper, but when we got it, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I found the flimsy paper wasn’t enough. Which when I told Mr. Dove, he laughed at me, since I had cheaped out on the paper and not printed it on card stock because I kept saying it would be enough for us. Words being eaten, friends!
I wanted to do gold card stock, but we had the invites printed on white paper and it looked strange with the colors we could get, so I decided to do a blue. I went with a package of card stock from Hobby Lobby that had different colors, so there are actually three different versions of our invites! It was cheaper that way, and while I may have started caring a bit more, I still didn’t want to spend money on them. It worked out kind of funny...
