Former First Lady Michelle Obama assisted a couple with marriage vows at their wedding ceremony on September 22.
Bride Stephanie Rivkin is the daughter of Robert S. Rivkin, Deputy Mayor of Chicago, Obama’s hometown. Rivkin’s mother, Penny Pritzker, served as Secretary of Commerce in the Barack Obama administration.
Rivkin and husband Joel Sircus said their “I do’s” at the Theater on the Lake, an event space in Chicago. An Instagram video from a wedding guest leaked footage of Obama reciting wedding vows into a microphone as the bride repeats them to her groom under a flower-covered arch. It’s unclear whether or not Obama was the wedding officiant or simply an assistant in the ceremony of the family friends.
