Sorry for the bit of radio silence there, hive. I’ve been really sick this past week and unable to do pretty much anything. One of the days I was sick, we had already arranged for our cake tasting and I felt bad about canceling it, so even though I wasn’t feeling great, we went anyway. I thought I’d be able to handle eating a bit and sitting with friends for a few hours.
Our cake is being made by the mother of Bridesmaid M2. She owns a specialty cake shop, and pretty much the week we got engaged, she invited me to the shop to talk desserts and was offering to do ours for us and was so excited for us. It means a lot to both Mr. Dove and me, as we adore their entire family. They have always been so welcoming to us and have treated us like family. With neither of us having our moms close by, Mrs. M2 has become a welcome mother figure in our lives—fussing over food and what we’re doing on holidays and making sure we have bug spray and sunscreen on the trips they invite us on. It’s nice just to have someone worry, as bad as that sounds! But anyway, I am so excited to be working with them for our cake! Sadly, I took one bite of the cake and realized that my throat was just not up to eating that day, and I had to watch Mr. Dove try all of the options.
