The tl;dr version of our love story is, ?Mr. Horseshoe and I met at a wedding.? Sort of.
The full story: We first met many moons ago in 2007 after we graduated from university. He was hosting a house party, and I came as a friend of a friend. We said hey, nice to meet you, and went off and did our own things. He was busy DJing his party, and I was outside by his fire pit for most of the night.
We didn?t see much of each other until August of 2011. A mutual friend of ours bought his first condo and had a housewarming party. Mr. Horseshoe and I ended up chatting and discovered a mutual love for baking/cooking. He also enjoyed the olive oil cake I brought. (Sounds a bit weird, but it?s a good recipe: Bake this cake and top with a basil lemon glaze!)

As it turns out, we had another mutual friend who was getting married in September 2011. She asked Mr. Horseshoe to be her DJ, and asked me to bake her wedding cake. Mr. H and I bonded in the weeks leading up to her wedding—I think it was pretty clear that there was a little spark there. Our friend must have known, as she sat us at the same table for her wedding. Mr. H and I, in between DJ sets, hung out all night. A week after the wedding, we decided to check out a film festival together. And, as they say, the rest is history.
