Navy Blue Phoenix Wedding Among the Cacti

Paulo Coelho said that “the simple things are also the most extraordinary things,” and that was certainly the case at Marissa and Tim’s Phoenix wedding. The couple wanted their nuptials to be whimsical, wholesome, and fun for their family and friends. They tailored the ceremony and reception to include elements that they, both being writers, would enjoy. Tim’s college screenwriting professor officiated their sweet ceremony, including custom opening remarks and readings from Tim and Marissa’s favorite authors.

I liked that my dress was romantic, but also had a bit of an earthy vibe to it. The straps and tulle train are I think what sold me. Most of all, I loved how comfortable it was and how the dress simply felt like me. I kept my accessories pretty minimal – just a headpiece that I fell in love with and two pieces of jewelry that have a lot of meaning to me.
Our photographer, Monica, was amazing to work with. She made everything so easy! She gave some direction, but mostly just let the day unfurl and beautifully captured the moments and emotion that naturally occurred. We really could not have asked for a better photographer.
