We left off with the six of us jam-packed in the rental van singing our way down the Mexican highway. We made a plan to make a pit stop at one of the many cenotes that are off the highway from Cancun to Tulum.
Cenotes (see no-tays) are natural pits, or sinkholes, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. (Thank you, Wikipedia!)
The cenotes were absolutely beautiful and the water was crystal clear and we were surrounded by the jungle.
We planned to meet up with our photographer and take a few shots at Cenote Cristalino. It was one of the best ideas we had that week. Our photographer took amazing pictures; she was so great at making us feel comfortable and keeping us laughing! All of the following photos were all taken by Amber Bridges of Amber Bridges Studios.
While we were in the water there were all of these tiny fish that were biting our feet, so there are a bunch of pictures where I am cracking up because it tickled like crazy!

All of the photos turned out amazing—the underwater ones are some of my favorites. I felt like a mermaid!
