Once in a Blue Moon Love: A Smidgen of Cake

Wedding Cake Cutting
All photos are thanks to the wonderful Amilia of Amilia Photography.
When it came to the cake cutting, our wedding planner suggested that we do this earlier rather than later. In her experience (and in mine), many older guests like to wait for a slice of cake and then head home before the reception gets too rowdy. We cut the cake about 45 minutes after dinner was served, and boy oh boy, we were too excited to try a slice of this deliciousness. We opted for the traditional almond wedding cake flavor, with raspberry jam filling.
Here we are trying to figure out how to cut this thing. It is much harder than it looks, y’all. We weren’t sure which tier to cut into at all, and I was super terrified of messing up our entire cake!
We finally got a piece out of there and jacked up the rest of the bottom tier up only-a-little-bit.
We also agreed beforehand that we would not smash any cake into each other’s faces or start a cake war. These types of food fights make us kind of uncomfortable when we attend weddings, so we definitely didn’t want to do that at our own!
After some successful cake-feeding, we shared a kiss and congratulated each other for not messing this one up. Our catering staff took over from there, and our guests started queuing up for their slices!
Meanwhile, we clean forgot about the delicious cake we were supposed to be sitting down to finish, because who could think about food when somebody is looking at you like ...
