Once in a Blue Moon Love: We Take the Floor

Sweet First Dance

While we stepped away for a few minutes to take some more photos at the quarry site, our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the patio. They had access to the bar, plus a few snackums. There was a large fruit and cheese display with a Craisin-encrusted goat cheese ball, a pecan-encrusted cheddar ball, and imported and domestic cheeses. We also had spinach- and feta-stuffed mushrooms, and shrimp and grit fritters for our meat-eating guests. Mr. Blue Moon and I didn’t get to try any of it until later, but I can tell you that even the leftovers our wedding planner sent with us to our hotel were the stuff.
As we wrapped up some final couple portraits, our planner got everybody inside for our wedding party’s entrance. We had decided to have everybody announced since they came from all over the country and our families had yet to meet some of our friends.
Mr. Blue Moon and I entered next, and it was a little bit unnerving since we had a first dance looming.
Choosing a song for the first dance was kind of overwhelming (as Mrs. Feather recently described), but we ended up going with “Forget Me Not,” by the Civil Wars, which is one of my all-time favorites.
The lyrics are so sweet and sentimental, and it’s a nice slow waltz-ready song, which I figured even I wouldn’t be able to screw up too much. When I played it for Mr. Blue Moon as a first dan...
