From the designer:
My concept for the shoot was born out of a desire to balance structure with romantic elements. Sometimes ?structure’ conjures up feelings of coldness or starkness. So I wanted to bring in warmth and texture, while keeping the focus on a bride (with added floral elements.
We began with a natural and soft look for the makeup, then later added a stronger color, accenting our bride?s natural features. For hair, we started with the structured but soft waves of a 1940’s Hollywood style hair, then tied her hair into a simple ponytail displaying those soft waves. We decided to keep the focus of the gowns soft, textural and ethereal: with a Grecian inspired gown by Catherine Deane, 3D textural flowers by Halfpenny London and a lacy but modern gown by Flora Bridal. The invitation suite was the perfect introduction to the shoot, with its mix of clean and modern typography, airy calligraphy, and warm colors. All of the other elements made a decision about the flowers easy: fresh and subtle combinations. We used an updated take on the white bouquet, with creamy tones and soft beige with a subtle hint of blush. Then added a more colorful but muted option with warmer pinks accented with creamy beige.
