Our V-Day Tradition: Alternative Valentine’s Day Activities
Welp, it’s our LAST V-Day as an unmarried couple.
And like a lot of couples, we have a few Valentine’s Day traditions…but here’s the thing. We don’t go out to eat. We don’t go to the movies. We don’t buy each other gifts. We don’t even do flowers (but he’ll often bring some home on the 15th, because hello cheap arrangements!).
So what do we do" Honestly, it’s pretty  basic. And it’s not much different than other nights. We cook dinner together, and we plan some big-ticket fun dates throughout the year. I’m talking about concerts, plays, and other stuff we need to set aside funds for.
It’s kinda like the Valentine’s Day that keeps on giving…eight or so ultra-romantic dates THROUGHOUT the year. Plus, it’s a fun way to focus on us, without the pressure of getting dolled up and being “on” after a long day at work, or worrying about a reservation at a restaurant that’ll inevitably be overcrowded and stretched thin.
And we have fun with it—lots of reminiscing about the great shows we’ve been to over the past few years. I mean, Elton John’s Bowie tribute…INSANE. And that time we saw Adele at a thousand person venue" SO good. Not to mention every single Postmodern Jukebox concert we’ve danced our way through…because they’re just SO fun.
