Picking Paper: The Feather Invitations

Like Miss Dove, invitations are not a huge priority for the Feathers. As I mentioned in my save-the-date post, we want our families and friends to have something nice that they can treasure or toss that won?t break our wallets. We used pretty much the same approach when deciding what to do about our invitations.
When I showed my Oma our finished invitation on Skype one evening, she paused for a moment before asking me if that was what ?all the kids were doing these days.?* I was pretty quick to respond, ?Yeah, the kids that don?t want to drop thousands of dollars on dead trees.? Which got her to laugh, since we both have the same thrifty personality and she?s been adamant that we not spend too much on our wedding.
We set an admittedly small budget, and I got to looking at options. Without even trying, most of the invitation designs I came up with had a minimalist, outdoorsy look.

I liked this one, but Mr. Feather thought the fonts were a little too hard to read.

I don?t recall what we didn?t like about this one. I remember Mr. Feather vetoed it pretty quickly, maybe for being too pastel.

This design was Mr. Feather?s favorite. We both loved the modernist look and feel, but decided black was not the right color for a wedding invitation. Also, I wasn?t sure if I wanted to describe our wedding as ?blissful.?
