As soon as Mike and I got engaged we had a good idea about a location for getting married. We also decided early on that we didn?t want to wait too long to get married (I?m far too impatient for that!) and that we definitely wanted to do it this year, the only issue being that we really wanted a summer wedding (or as close to summer as we could get) and knew January was quite late to be booking one for the same year?I got in touch with the location anyway to see if they had any 2016 dates left and they came back with 17th September, perfect! It was meant to be.
The venue is located on the Llyn Peninsula of North Wales, an area Mike and I have both been visiting almost every summer with our families since we were young. We also visited the venue a few years ago when my Mum had a birthday party there so both the venue and the area already hold lots of good memories for us. As an old mining quarry, the location is now available to hire for weddings and has on site a reception venue and accommodation for up to 138 guests for a whole weekend (as well as an amazing wedding planner called Mair). After we found out that we and (almost) all our guests could stay at the same place, it was a no brainer. We had wanted to make a whole weekend out of the wedding anyway and make it feel more of a mini staycation than just a wedding day.
