Puffed Up with Love: Making Rounds and Speeches

After our first ?dance,? if you can call it that, we took our seats at the sweetheart table to hear the first toast of the night.
BM T led the toast with a heartfelt speech to us and especially his younger brother, Puff. He made everyone laugh with a joke about feeling awkward giving a presentation without PowerPoint, but quickly had us both choking up by saying how proud he was of Puff and welcoming me to the family. His daughter, FG J, gave her own sweet speech and gave me a hug.
After grace was said by my dad, dinner got underway. Because we opted for a short reception, Puff and I knew we had little time to visit with each table, so we immediately started making the rounds. Before we knew it, everyone had finished their first course, and it was time to take our seats again for more speeches. Next, it was the MOHs? turn. They decided to collaborate and give their toast together. MOH R kicked it off with a bunch of bad grammar jokes—fitting, since I?m a copywriter and have been known to point out errors. But then she got serious. R pointed out that unlike MOH A, who will cry at the drop of a hat, she and I were good at hiding our emotions and not being overly sentimental about romance. But when I first told her about Mr. Puffer, the way I talked about him made her realize that I?d found my happily ever after.
