Puffed Up with Love: Married!

After the vows were made, the rings were exchanged, and the prayers were said, there was only one last thing to do.
The Pronouncement
Our officiant, Sandy Queen, told us that her favorite moment in any wedding ceremony is the brief moment before she pronounces a couple married. And indeed, on our wedding night, Sandy looked at the two of us and whispered, ?Are you ready"? Because once she said the words, our lives would never be the same.
Mr. Puffer and I were both very ready to hear those words.
Now that you, Mr. and Ms. Puffer, have promised to give yourselves to one another and to love each other through your sacred vows and through the exchanging of rings, by the power vested in me by the State of Maryland, I now pronounce you husband and wife in marriage. An unknown author once wrote: ?And when my lips meet thine, thy very soul is wedded onto mine.? Now for the first time you will kiss as husband and wife. Mr. Puffer, you may kiss your bride!

Breaking of the Glass
Mr. Puffer and I had a pretty secular ceremony, except for a few prayers. But to honor his Jewish heritage, we did celebrate the glass-breaking ceremony. Sandy recited this passage to explain it to any guests unfamiliar with the tradition.
