Puffed Up with Love: We Say I Do, Part 1

I?ve gone back and forth on how much detail about our ceremony I wanted to include, especially because ours was so traditional. (Twenty minutes, vows, rings, candle-lighting, kiss, and done.) But even though we stuck with pretty traditional readings, we did spend a lot of time cobbling it together with Officiant Sandy Queen?s guidance. And as Puff pointed out to me, the ceremony was the WHOLE DAMN REASON we had the wedding in the first place.
So here it is, in all its lengthy glory—or at least, divided into a few posts, for sanity?s sake.
The Welcome
After my folks took their seats, Sandy greeted the guests.
Family and friends, welcome. We have come together today to celebrate the marriage and reflect the joy of Mr. and Ms. Puffer. A wedding is the celebration of the miracle of love, and that is what we are here to do: to celebrate that miracles do occur. That at any moment, the unexpected can happen. And that most inexplicably and wonderfully, the path of our entire lives can change.
Marriage is a meditation on our histories as well as our future, on our losses and failures, and our hopes and possibilities. And so as Mr. and Ms. Puffer wed, it is for us to contemplate that they could not and would not be standing here before us today if they had not followed their own star home and done what they needed to do to bring themselves to this point...
