Puffed Up with Love: We Take a Peek (Our First Look)

All photos in this post are from the incredibly talented and ridiculously funny Kelly Phillips. / Kelly Phillips Photography
Getting married on a Friday night in November means outdoor photos need to be taken before the sun sets. So for us, the question of whether or not to do a first look wasn?t a question at all but a necessity. We wanted those outdoor shots, darn it.
We lucked out on our wedding day. It had rained off and on for days, but on Friday the sun was out in all her glory. My half of the wedding party headed to the Mansion at Valley Country Club first on instructions from photographer Kelly Phillips, who kept the guys occupied with photos until we were hidden from view.
Mr. Puffer asked for our first look to be private. He later told me that it wasn?t until he arrived at the mansion that his emotions kicked into overdrive. So to keep his wishes, the wedding party stayed away as we saw each other for the first time in our finery.
I?d been self-conscious around the camera all day?getting my picture taken is somewhat akin to getting a root canal?but during our first look, all I cared about was Puffer. He just kept saying, ?You?re so beautiful,? and I just kept laughing. We forgot about the photographer, the decorations going up around us, and even the wedding-party members who snuck back out for a few peeks. For a few glorious moments, it was just us. I?ll cherish those memories as long as I live.
Up next: Pictures and more pictures. Seriously, so many pic...
