Searching for the One
By ?the one? I mean the ring; I had already found Mr. Eel. Even before getting engaged or even thinking about being engaged, I already knew the ring I wanted. I had seen the Tacori key ad in magazines and instantly fell in love. Prior to seeing that ad I had never even thought about engagement ring styles, so I surprised myself even when this ring jumped out at me. When I looked at other engagement-ring styles, nothing came close to my love for this particular Tacori ring (top ring in the ad below). From the very beginning, Mr. Eel said he wanted me to be 100% happy with whatever ring we chose because a.) I would be the one wearing it forever and b.) he knows I am extremely picky (an unfortunate fatal flaw).
So when Mr. Eel and I started looking for a ring, I already knew what I wanted, and it made the process a lot easier.

We went to see The Diamond Specialist, as they came highly recommended by many engaged and married friends before us. Russell, our consultant, spent a good 45 minutes with us during our first appointment going through the four Cs of diamonds, and we walked away feeling confident and empowered as buyers. He also gave us some tips about how we could get what we wanted while staying within our budget.
