(Sorta) Honeymooning in Japan

Mr. Eel and I knew from the beginning that we wouldn’t be honeymooning immediately after our wedding. I already anticipate the week leading up to our wedding, as well as our wedding weekend, to be jam packed with last minute errands, activities, and (of course) partying. We’ll also probably need some time to decompress from all the excitement and stress of the wedding. I didn’t want to add one (or 20) more to-dos to our pre-wedding list by adding on a honeymoon. Because of all these factors, we made the decision to postpone our honeymoon to December when things will have calmed down. Since our “honeymoon” is happening four months after our wedding, when people ask us if we are going on a honeymoon we reply with “sorta.” We discussed where we would like to visit, and Mr. Eel had only one thought in mind—Japan. We took a trip to Japan in 2015; it was Mr. Eel’s first trip there and my second. We spent 11 wonderful days eating our way through Tokyo, visiting shrines and temples, and seeing all that Tokyo has to offer. However, we did not get to see much outside of Tokyo and wanted to visit Japan’s other cities.
