Sweeten the Planning, Lessons Learned from the Sugar Cubes

Sometimes planning a wedding can be overwhelming, and you’re left not knowing where to start. Now that I am officially done with recaps and Mr. Sugar Cube and I have been married for just over three months, I thought I?d provide some help by passing along some lessons/tips I learned while planning our wedding.
1. Prioritize what?s important to you.Â
Before you even start on the guest list, take a moment and write down your three biggest priorities. Have your fiancé do the same and then compare the lists. This will help with budgeting and all other steps of the planning process. For Mr. Sugar Cube and me, the priorities were simple—a white dress, a personalized ceremony and family there for me; a personalized ceremony, family there, and good food for him. We took those and ran with it. In doing so we had some of the best food I?ve ever eaten, a family vibe, and a truly personalized ceremony.
2. Don?t compromise who you are.
I didn?t grow up dreaming about how my wedding was going to look. And then I read somewhere about a bride and groom who planned their wedding around where they were at that point in their lives; it was a reflection of them and who they were in that moment. That?s what I wanted.
And so it was. Mr. Sugar Cube opted to wear nice dress pants and a vest since he?s not really a suit guy, and we both wore Vans because of how important the company had become to both of us. We kept our bridal party to siblings because we?re both big on family, and I...
