The Case of the Mismatched Bridesmaids

Mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses have been all the rage lately. Calling them ?mismatched? is a bit of a misnomer. They still match, they just aren?t exactly the same dress. They might be a mix of styles and carefully corresponding colors, or the same color but different styles.
I?ve been thinking a lot about bridesmaid style lately (more on that below!) and have noticed a few problems that brides tend to run into when they decide to go with mismatched dresses.
Problem No. 1: You rarely see photos of mismatching gone wrong.

How many times have you looked at a photo of mismatched bridesmaids and seen one bridesmaid in cream, one in bright green, and one in navy blue" I?d guess never, but I bet there?s a bride out there who has made those colors look good together, so I?ll hold my tongue. The point is, you hardly ever see photos of mismatched bridesmaids that don?t look?well, matched. The only inspiration out there is from when a bridal party pulled off the look flawlessly, which doesn?t always happen.
Problem No. 2: Styled shoots make it look easy.

The easiest way to get your bridal party into perfectly mismatched dresses is to have a stylist or photographer do it for you. I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe a quarter of mismatched bridesmaids inspiration photos are from styled shoots and not real weddings.
