I?d like to post about our DIY projects before we dive into recaps in order to provide you with a sneak peek of our decor and some rough DIY project guidelines.
First, I definitely fell victim to the DIY project rabbit hole.
Me when I first started wedding planning: ?I?m going to DIY everything.?
Me six months before our wedding: ?Remember all of these DIY projects" They?re probably not going to happen.?
I knew from the outset of wedding planning that I wanted to incorporate DIY elements into our wedding. Of course, in true Horseshoe fashion, I bit off more than I could chew and had to whittle down my DIY list to something a bit more manageable. Gone was the thought of me arranging our own flowers and building a ceremony backdrop.
Here?s what the Horseshoes got up to, and what we spent on these projects. I?ve split these projects up into two posts as, it turns out, we still DIYed quite a bit. Stay tuned for part two!
Veil ? about $50 and 2-3 hours

I fell in love with a raw-edged cathedral veil while dress shopping. What I did not love was the price tag. I now understand why they?re expensive—making one requires a delicate hand. I ordered some English net from Etsy and used a rotary cutter to cut and trim the net. I then sewed on a simple metal comb I bought from Amazon. It took a lot of trimming and experimenting with comb placement to get my veil right, but it worked at the end of the day. I loved how the...
