Tossing the Bouquet Toss

By the time I get married I will be a 30-something bride. This means I have been to my fair share of weddings and have participated in many bouquet tosses?my least favorite part of a wedding reception. According to Wikipedia, the end-all, be-all for internet searches, whomever catches the bouquet is next in line to be married, and it goes back to the Golden Apple of Discord myth. According to Eelpedia, the end-all, be-all for information in the Eel household, the purpose of the bouquet toss is to call out every single unmarried girl at a wedding. *shudder*

I know a lot of brides love the bouquet toss, and I understand the tradition and sentiment behind doing it. But hear me out on my case against the bouquet toss. 1. I don?t know about yours, but of the quotes I?ve received I?m expecting to pay upwards of $200 for my bridal bouquet. There is no way I am throwing away my $200 bouquet! I?m keeping that thing and drying it to collect dust in our home for all eternity.
2. Getting married in your 30s also means a lot of your friends are in their 30s. Thirty-somethings don?t need another reminder that they are still single or haven?t found Mr. or Ms. Right. Granted, a lot of people choose to get married later in life or not at all, and I am all for that. But just remember that there are still people out there who want to get married but for whatever reason haven’t found the right person.
