Upcycled Chalkboard Signs
DIY Upcycled Chalkboard Signs
Like many of my fellow bees, I?m a big fan of all things budget. Especially when it comes to wedding decorations, which are probably going to wind up sold or donated after we tie the knot.
Chalkboard signs are like mason jars: As far as wedding trends go, they?re probably here to stay. Which makes them ideal candidates for upcycling because they?re so, so easy to find gently used or on sale.
Once I knew I wanted a few signs for around our reception venue, I scoured Craigslist until I found a batch of five smaller signs and one large white easel sign.

The signs came with the writing on them, and I bought a white paint pen at Michaels to touch up the places where the letters had smudged a bit. Paint pens, not chalk, are definitely the way to go if you want a specific design or you want the writing to last. After counting the signs and thinking about our venue, I decided I wanted to keep the signs that said ?gifts? and ?thank you,? use the large, blank sign as a bar menu, paint over the advice sign and use it to display our wedding hashtag, and paint over the sign that said ?cards? and use it to direct folks to our guestbook.
I painted over the white easel sign, too. I?m planning on writing something like this and putting it up somewhere outside the ceremony.

Once I was done with the chalkboard paint, I got to work on the frames.
