Venue Hunting: In the Wilds of Washington

After Mr. Feather popped the question, I mentally prepared myself for the inevitable post-engagement questions from well-meaning family and friends: ?When?s the wedding" And?where"?
We knew from the start that ?where? was going to be our toughest question. My family is from New Jersey, Mr. Feather?s is from Texas, and we?ve spent the last couple years living and making friends on the West Coast. No matter what, more than half of our guests would be coming from out of town.
We quickly nixed the idea of having the wedding in either of our hometowns. Mostly because I didn?t want to plan a wedding from hundreds or thousands of miles away, but also because it didn?t feel fair to ask one person?s family to travel while everyone else got to stay put. We decided the best solution was to ask everyone to come to us and enjoy a summer vacation in the Seattle area.
Once that was settled, we started picking a few locations that appealed to us as a couple. One of the first places we both loved was the Mt. Rainer platform at Crystal Mountain Resort. It?s a ski resort in the winter and a unique event space in the summer. The platform is only accessible via gondola and has an unbeatable view.

Keeping with our theme of beautiful outdoor spaces, we also gawked at the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie. It?s perched on top of the 270 foot high Snoqualmie Falls, which is taller than Niagara Falls but not quite...
