Wedding Dress Shopping Tips
You may (or may not) have noticed that I haven’t said much about wedding dress shopping. I pretty much snuck my dress into a post about suits and called it a day. Wedding dress shopping was a long and exhaustive process for me, so I don’t get that warm and fuzzy feeling thinking about it. Don’t get me wrong, I get really excited when I think about *my dress,* but I don’t have those same feelings when I think about how long it took me to get there.

I started dress shopping back in September 2015. With about a year until the wedding, I thought I was giving myself enough time to find the perfect dress, order it, and get it altered. It took me three months and what felt like 100 dresses (probably more like 50) before I found my dress. In the hope that future brides will have a better experience than me, here are some tips and lessons I learned.
Full disclosure: The dress photos in this post are the dresses I tried on that I didn’t like (some I reeeeeally didn’t like). I’ll do a post later with the dresses that were heavy contenders.
Tip #1: Start wedding dress shopping early! Some boutiques will need eight-plus months to order your dress. My dress will take eight months to come in; I barely made it when I found my dress in November for my August wedding. David’s Bridal told me they needed to order my dress a year (!!!) in advance.
