This year has seen some awesome trends, but one we can’t get enough of is smoke bombs in photographs. Available in lots of different shades, they’re a great way to add atmosphere to your portraits and get some brilliantly colourful images.
 
Safety First
 
Talk to your photographer about sourcing the smoke bombs and make sure you think about safety – they’re only suitable for outdoors and, depending on the type you use, you may need to wear gloves to protect your hands from the heat. The smoke can irritate your eyes and throat so be careful where you’re holding them. If it’s a really windy day, it might not be possible to use a smoke bomb and if it’s a hot dry day, it’s particularly important to make sure you pour water over it afterwards Once lit, the smoke bomb only lasts 45-90 seconds so your photographer will need to set up the shot and you will need to be ready! If you’re planning a group shot, this may take a little bit of coordination.
