Blogger Going to Paralympic Games
We’re going to Rio!
July 2nd was the Paralympic trials for the cycling team selection for the 2016 Paralympic Games. Years of countless hours spent training, endearing financial hardships, getting through moments of doubt, overcoming obstacles like being hit by a car, and sacrifices of missing family events and not getting to see my family became worth it that day. Every credit card limit reached to get equipment, fundraisers put on to help pay for travel expenses to selection races, rock bottom moments when I lost faith in the journey…it was all worth it the second I was told I had made the team. I get the opportunity and honor to wear red, white, and blue. To represent my country.
It’s still very surreal; it hasn’t quite set in yet. The best part, though, is having my best friend by my side from the beginning. To be my biggest support and encouragement. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Mr. Sugar Cube.
Now comes the hard training and plans to get Mr. Sugar Cube to Rio so that he can be there living the same emotions as me as I step onto the velodrome for my first race knowing I fulfilled my dream. That we fulfilled this dream. Together.
